Glow into spring: The guide to looking and feeling your best

After what feels like one of the longest winter seasons ever, we’re finally starting to enjoy warmer weather, the sun in the sky, and soon, lighter nights. We’ve made it, guys.
If you’re anything like my friends and I, you’ll be starting to slowly emerge from winter troll life, changing up little things like focusing more on skincare or dressing up more to leave the house (goodbye joggers).
We wanted to take it one step further, with the ultimate guide to feeling and looking your best this spring. Don’t worry – it doesn’t take hours of dedication or lots of money – just small simple changes to get your glow back for 2025.
REFRESH YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE

Winter weather combined with central heating can leave our skin dull, dehydrated, and needing a serious refresh. It’s time to switch up our routines with lighter, glow-boosting formulas.
Exfoliate away dullness. A gentle chemical exfoliant like Paula’s Choice BHA Liquid Exfoliant (£35) or Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow PHA+BHA Toner (£14) will help reveal radiant skin. For a natural alternative, Origins has a great apple skin peel, YOUTHTOPIA (£39), which smooths skin texture, reduces the appearance of pores and hydrates.
Swap thick creams for lightweight hydration. Try Sea the Love’s Radiant Marine Day Cream (£35) for a refreshing, non-greasy boost. It’s locally made, with powerful ingredients, including marine minerals, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, to support the skin’s moisture barriers and promote a smooth and bright complexion. It has 5-star reviews for its effectiveness.
SPF is a must. Even if it’s not sunny. Ultra Violette Supreme Screen SPF50+ (£34) is perfect for everyday wear, keeping your skin protected and dewy. Plus, it feels like luxurious skincare rather than SPF.
Treat yourself to a facial. Regular facials at RT Aesthetics can transform your skin. Using AlumierMD medical-grade chemical peels (from £150), they address your unique skin concerns and transform your complexion with lasting results.
GET YOUR ENERGY BACK
If you’re feeling constantly tired and sluggish, your daily habits could be to blame. Spring is the perfect time to refresh your routine and boost your energy naturally.
Start your day with natural light. Open your blinds as soon as you wake up or step outside for five minutes of fresh air to reset your body clock. If you can, even a 15/20 minute walk in the morning sunlight can help elevate your mood and increase energy levels.
Hydrate like it’s your job. Grab that Stanley; drinking two to three litres of water daily is the most basic way to lift energy levels. Even slight dehydration can increase feelings of tiredness, and drinking the right amount of water every day can help your heart pump blood more effectively, transporting oxygen and other essential nutrients to your cells.

Move in a way that feels good for you. High-intensity workouts can actually increase cortisol in the body, leading to brain fog, lack of energy and difficulty sleeping. If you’re experiencing any of those symptoms, try opting for low-impact Pilates, yoga, or spring walks.
Try lymphatic drainage. BODYROLL Studio Newcastle is one of the only places in the North East to offer advanced machines equipped with wooden rollers, infrared lights and colour therapy to give a lymphatic drainage experience like no other. It helps to detoxify the body, allowing it run at peak performance, as well as boosting blood flow for glowing skin.
RESET YOUR DIET
After months of comfort food and hibernation mode, focusing on adding more vibrant, nourishing foods to our diet can help us feel lighter and more energised.
Eat with the season. Spring is all about asparagus, leafy greens, berries, and citrus fruits – all packed with vitamins to wake up your system.
Gut health = good mood. Add fermented foods like kimchi, sauerkraut, or kefir to keep digestion running smoothly. Catchi’s Kimchi (from £6.95) is our favourite brand, made right here in the North East.
Swap coffee for matcha or mushroom blends – Dirtea Lion’s Mane Mushroom Powder (£38) or Matcha & Co Pure Organic Matcha (from £11.95) provide steady energy without the caffeine crash.
Pack in the vitamins. Grab a fresh smoothie from Priory Press in Tynemouth or Newcastle. We love the Strawberry Skin Glaze.

SPRING CLEAN YOUR MIND AND SPACE

Your environment can massively affect your mood, so a fresh start = fresh energy. A little spring cleaning and mental decluttering can work wonders for your mindset and motivation.
Declutter one space at a time. Start small, like your wardrobe, skincare drawer, work desk or the ‘bits and bobs’ drawer in the kitchen.
Make your space feel fresh. Fill your home with a mood-boosting scent, we love the Geranium & Cedarwood candle from The Aromatary (currently on sale for £7.80).
Digital detox your phone. We all know how toxic social media can be, and whilst we’re well aware of it, it can be a hard habit to break. Unfollow anything that drains your energy or saps your confidence, and swap doom-scrolling for a feel-good podcast.
Unwind your mind. Try a Yoga Nidra at Yoga x Life Studios in Ouseburn (the last Friday night of each month) for the ultimate switch-off and mind rebalancing.
SHAKE UP YOUR STYLE
Nothing says spring refresh like switching up your style, whether it’s a new haircut, a wardrobe refresh, or a pop of colour.
Treat yourself to a hair refresh. Whether it’s a spring trim, a luxurious treatment, or a complete transformation, a hair refresh is a fast-track way to help you feel reset. ÂPRE Hair Concept is our favourite sustainable salon that gives a holistic luxury experience for the ultimate pamper day.
Add spring pieces to your wardrobe. Swap heavy layers for light knits, linen, and pastel tailoring. Spring colours can instantly make us feel like we’re finally in the season.

Check your colours. Do you know what colours suit you best? Getting a professional colour analysis can help make you look and feel better every day, building a capsule wardrobe that you know complements your skin tone. True Colours with Sarah Heron offers an excellent colour analysis service – an investment in yourself that you can use year after year.
Treat yourself to a fresh mani. A fresh manicure can instantly help make you feel more put together – especially in a bright spring colour. Whether you go to a salon or do it at home, this simple act of showing yourself some love can boost that dopamine.
