THE SKRIKER

Tuesday 8th – Friday 11th July 2025

Ever wanted to see a shapeshifting fairy wreak havoc on a couple of teenagers? Then you’re in for a treat with The Skriker. This haunting and darkly beautiful play by Caryl Churchill is being brought to life by Project A, Newcastle Theatre Royal’s professional actor training programme.

Follow The Skriker as it manipulates and takes Lily and Josie on a journey through love, loss and transformation. It’s a stunning mix of horror, magical realism and raw emotion – definitely not your average fairy tale.

THE LIGHTNING THIEF: THE PERCY JACKSON MUSICAL

OPERA NORTH

Winter 2025 and Spring 2026

If you’re a fan of opera, you’re in for a real treat. Opera North is coming back to the Newcastle Theatre Royal later this year with a wonderful winter season. They’ll be bringing Puccini’s timeless La bohème (Wednesday 5th – Saturday 8th November 2025), a fresh collaboration with Phoenix Dance Theatre for Handel’s Susanna (Friday 7th November), and a fun family show, The Big Opera Mystery (Saturday 8th Nov 2025).

Then, in Spring 2026, Opera North returns with two must-see performances: Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro (Thursday 19th – Saturday 21st March 2026) and Britten’s brilliant Peter Grimes (Friday 20th March 2026).

WEIRD

Saturday 31st January 2026

Here’s something wicked this way comes. The world premiere of Weird, a musical reimagining of Macbeth through the eyes of the three witches, is coming to Newcastle Theatre Royal.
