Seaham may be known for its stunning coastline and local charm, but thanks to The Fox & Tree, it’s quickly earning a place on the North East’s culinary map.

Nestled in the heart of the coastal town, this stylish gastropub is redefining casual dining – with a Michelin-starred twist.

Founded by two local lads with a passion for great food and a warm welcome, The Fox & Tree is the brainchild of chef-patron Paul Rowntree and business partner Ian Foxton.

Paul brings years of experience working in some of the world’s most prestigious kitchens, while Ian champions a laid-back, accessible dining vibe. The result? A one-of-a-kind food destination that stands out against tother Seaham restaurants where high-end cooking meets our favourite relaxed pub comforts.

INSIDE THE FOX & TREE

Step inside The Fox & Tree and you’re greeted with more than just rustic interiors and a warm smile. You’re stepping into a space where every dish is thoughtfully crafted using the finest local ingredients, honed by Paul’s Michelin-trained techniques.

The team’s passion shines through in every element of the menu, from the buttery-soft beef cheek rendang to the griddled sea bass with thyme-infused ratte potatoes and home-made sauces.

But don’t expect stiff white tablecloths or formal fuss here. This is a place where you can enjoy a world-class plate of food with a pint in hand, kids at the table and your dog snoozing at your feet.

EVER-EVOLVING MENUS THAT KEEP YOU COMING BACK

The à la carte menu is a celebration of seasonality and locality – changing frequently to reflect what’s fresh, foraged or just plain fabulous. Expect bold flavours, creative presentations and daily specials that let the chefs flex their culinary muscles.

With dishes like slow confit duck leg with potato purée and sauce grand veneur, or Gorgonzola and wild mushroom tart fine with black garlic, there’s something to surprise and delight even the most seasoned foodies.

And for those who love a midweek treat. Themed nights at The Fox & Tree offer everything from classic pub grub favourites to curated tasting experiences and themed nights.
