Shore Yoga – Tynemouth and Cullercoats

This one’s for the early risers! Roll out your mat as the morning sun makes a silhouette of Tynemouth Priory. Shore Wild is Shore Yoga’s outdoor offshoot, offering several weekly yoga, breathwork, and meditation classes in King Edward’s Bay.

Shore Wild also hosts classes in The Watch House at Cullercoats, so you can still catch a true North East sunrise… just without the sandy toes!

Jasmine Yoga holds pop-up outdoor classes on King Edward’s Bay. And — during good weather — they like to move studio classes out onto their rooftop, which looks over to Tynemouth Lighthouse from the Sailing Club.

The beach location changes based on the weather and tide times, but if you join their broadcast WhatsApp group then you’ll stay in the know.

Deb Yoga – Alnmouth

If it’s a Saturday morning from March to September, there’s a good chance that Deb Yoga is down at Alnmouth Beach. This 9am general level group class can be booked via the website and is only rescheduled in the event of adverse weather. Expect a slow, soulful session set to the sound of waves crashing in and out on Alnmouth’s sandy shore.

Wild Yoga, Rainton Meadows Nature Reserve

Take your Malasana amongst the meadow flowers at Rainton Meadows Nature Reserve. Roy Moor, of Wild Yoga, delivers a mixed ability class on Tuesday mornings from 10-11am. The class is usually held on the meadows themselves, depending on ground conditions and wind!

You can book a place by contacting Roy directly at [email protected] or 07817270231.

Kismet Yoga – Normanby and Guisborough

For something a bit different, Kismet Yoga has regularly scheduled yoga classes — with animal accompaniment. Did you know that ponies are sensitive to energy and that it’s possible to sync the human heartbeat with a horse’s? We didn’t either!

Shetland Pony Yoga and Goat Yoga are already on the Kismet Yoga timetable, with the promise of more outdoor yoga sessions soon to be added. Watch this space!

Happy Seal Yoga – Whitby

Happy Seal Yoga has yogis rolling out their mats all the way along the North Yorkshire coast, from Sandsend to Filey. For a real test of your balance, try out their SUP yoga classes at Sandsend beach.

Back on shore at Whitby, Happy Seal Yoga’s high-tide yoga classes are held on the grassy crescent just about the promenade. Other times, you’ll find them down on the sand. But either way you’ve got views to die for!
