Romeo, who? Juliet is here to rewrite her story – with a little help from Britney, Backstreet Boys and a whole lot of sass, & Juliet is coming to Newcastle Theatre Royal.
Forget everything you thought you knew about Shakespeare’s famous lovers. Because in this rebellious remix of the world’s most famous tragic love story, Juliet doesn’t end it all on a dagger – she grabs her passport (and her playlist) and gets ready to live her best life.
& Juliet, the award-winning, pop-powered musical, has been a massive hit in the West End and Broadway and is now going on tour across the UK – and will be at Newcastle Theatre Royal from Monday 2nd – Saturday 7th June 2025.
Trust us, the only tragedy would be missing it.

JULIET’S TRAGIC ENDING IS NO MORE
From the Emmy-winning brain behind Schitt’s Creek, & Juliet is the ultimate “what if?” fantasy: what if Juliet didn’t end it all for Romeo and instead said, “thanks, but no thanks” to doomed romance and took her fate into her own hands?
Enter girl power, glitter and a globe-trotting musical adventure filled with plenty of plot twists.
THE SOUNDTRACK THAT WILL SATISFY ALL YOUR GUILTY PLEASURES
This isn’t your average trip to Verona. Juliet’s journey is soundtracked by the ultimate pop bangers – think Britney Spears’ …Baby One More Time, Katy Perry’s Roar, Kelly Clarkson’s Since U Been Gone and Backstreet Boys’ I Want it That Way.
All the tunes come courtesy of pop maestro Max Martin – the Swedish songwriter behind more number one hits than anyone else this century. If you’ve ever danced around your kitchen to a pop anthem, odds are, Max wrote it.

NOT YOUR GCSE SHAKESPEARE
Yes, there’s a Shakespeare who makes an appearance – but not the dusty, doublet-wearing version from your English literature class. Think more fabulous, fourth wall-breaking bard with a witty remark for every occasion. Expect Shakespeare with sequins, sass and some serious feminist vibes.
Add in Juliet’s hilarious and heartwarming girl gang, a Romeo who might not be the dreamboat he thinks he is and with a plot twist – and you’ve got a fun, hilarious and surprisingly emotional night at Newcastle Theatre Royal.
Whether you’re a theatre fan, a pop music lover, or someone who is musically obsessed, & Juliet at Newcastle Theatre Royal promises to be a night to remember.
