Cinemagoers can rejoice as new flick Allelujah has finally hit the silver screen.
The film – which boasts a star-studded cast including Jennifer Saunders, Russell Tovey, Lorraine Ashbourne and none other than Dame Judi Dench herself – is based on Alan Bennett’s famous stage play and offers a warm, moving depiction of old age that reminds us all that we should have the right to live and die as we’d like.
When the geriatric ward in a small Yorkshire hospital is threatened with closure, it fights back by galvanising the local community – not least by inviting a news crew onto the ward to film their preparations for a concert honouring the hospital’s most distinguished nurse.
