Frontier Voices: In Arcadia et Ego – Great North Museum: Hancock
July 1, 8:00 am - December 23, 5:00 pmFree
Et in Arcadia Ego is an installation artwork made by artist Karen MacDougall working with Great North Museum: Hancock visitors on 30 May, 31 May and 1 June 2022, as part of the Frontier Voices project celebrating 1900 years since Hadrian’s Wall was built. The installation is part of the Hadrian’s Wall 1900 Festival.
Visitors embossed metal foil to create their own individual identity tags – voices of today on Hadrian’s Frontier. The concept for the artwork is Roman columns and altars in a gallery full of evidence of the real people on the Roman Frontier 1900 years ago.
This is first of ten art installations in the Frontier Voices project and constructed along the length of Hadrian’s Wall in various locations.
