Portrait of a seated Josephine Bowes wearing a sheer white dress, red belt and head tie.

This guided tour reveals more about Josephine Bowes, who her husband, John, described as the driving force behind The Bowes Museum project.

As a French actress who went on to become a painter, society hostess and patron of the arts, she was a woman of many talents. She even caused the UK law to be changed for public benefit!

The tour looks at her life through her own work and some of the paintings she acquired.
