The Power of Image: Versailles & The Sun King – Ushaw Historic House

This world-first exhibition explores Louis XIV’s relationship with Versailles through the Cabinet du Roi, a series of printed 17th-century engravings produced to reflect the glory of his reign.

These fascinating volumes were the king’s way of conveying his message to both his people and other royal houses in Europe.

You will also be able to view more than 100 enlarged and reproduced versions of the prints, allowing you to see their details up close. This exhibition really brings to life the opulence of royal Versailles in the 1600s.
