Chris Killip, Retrospective – Baltic

Chris Killip was one of the most influential post-war documentary photographers.

This full career retrospective showcases his work, with his images of the North East at the core. His photographs depict the lives of those affected by economic shifts throughout the ’70s and ‘8os in a way that is stark yet tender.

Killip immersed himself in the communities that he photographed, so his images reflect the value of the lives he grew close to and the effect of the environment around them.
