Mum’s The Word – Bowes Museum

During this fascinating tour and talk, you’ll look at paintings in the Bowes Museum collection which reveal more about the role of mothers through the centuries.

From the privileged classes and peasants to strippers, saints and pregnant freedom fighters, you’ll learn about what their lives would have been like and how they differ (or don’t) to the modern day.

This tour is a real celebration of women – and mothers! – in art.
