Saelia Aparicio: A Joyful Parasite – BALTIC

This new exhibition features the artwork of London-based Spanish artist Saelia Aparicio – her largest commission to date.

Saelia uses installation, sculpture and murals to blend narrative, science fiction and ecological speculation.

In this work, she explores the complex entanglements between bodies, environments and systems of care, drawing inspiration from classical mythology and Ancient Egypt to blur what is human and what is not.

Her hybrid ‘beings’ are playful and her multi-disciplinary approach shapes a fictional world that visitors can wander through, listen to and observe.
