North Acomb Farm Shop

North Acomb Farm – Established in 1978, Family Run Farm

Robin and Caroline Baty run a working farm and look after all aspects of the day-to-day running. The farm shop was started in 1978 selling surplus eggs from Caroline’s free-range hens from the back door porch. Soon after, customers were requesting North Acombs’ own produced green top milk and cream, after seeing the dairy herd in the field, so these products were also sold.

Requests continued to come for additional fresh produce, such as cakes, scones etc, then the meat soon followed. Robin was lucky to know two butchers in the wholesale meat trade who guided him at the start in the art and skill of butchery. He continued to learn from customers’ requests, for example, lamb racks, guard of honour and crowns etc and developed his very own legendary sausage and black pudding seasoning recipe.

Since then, North Acomb Farm Shop has gone from strength to strength with a wide product range of meats, home-baking produce and more, with many loyal customers coming from the local area as well as far afield.

The shop has become members of the Aberdeen Angus Cattle Society, Guild of Master Craftsmen, the National Federation of Meat and Food Traders and FARMA.

North Acomb also boasts first-class livery stables for horses; additionally, if customers come and visit the farm, happy and healthy cattle, sheep, pigs, dogs, peacocks, and guinea fowl are always seen.
