The Cookie Jar
Formally the Convent of Mercy, The Cookie Jar stands proudly on the cobbled streets of Bailliffgate on the doorstop to Alnwick Castle.
Recently voted “Best place to stay in the North” by the Sunday Times, the Cookie Jar has 11 beautifully appointed bedrooms including one suite which was the original Chapel – with its original stained glass windows and a copper bath, it really is very special.
Bedrooms all boast drench showers, some with heavenly bathtubs, great beds, luxury linens, a plentiful supply of Penhaligon’s toiletries and of course your welcome jar of freshly baked cookies.
They have a residents lounge which is the perfect place to relax and indeed enjoy one of their many books or magazines, a Bistro which focuses on local produce and a walled garden – the perfect place to enjoy afternoon tea or perhaps an aperitif before dinner.
The hotel is open for accommodation all year – currently open for dinner 7-nights a week and will be until the end of October when they will review.
They are serving afternoon tea on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12 midday until 3.30pm.
