Alison Smith & Matt Collins ‘Valkyrie’ – MIMA

Created by artist Alison Smith and technologist Matt Collins, Valkyrie is a new breathtaking light sculpture located in the MIMA Garden.

The floating sculpture is comprised of 1,000 LEDs inside a giant glowing orb. When triggered by a voice, light ripples across the textured surface of the sculpture.

Crafted from recycled plastics, Valkyrie creates other-worldly lightscapes and draws inspiration from the energy exchange which takes place when solar winds hit the Earth’s atmosphere.
