It’s officially spring, which means it’s time to update our wardrobes for the new season.

It’s that awkward transition period where it isn’t quite warm enough to go out without a jacket but it’s a little too warm to keep our winter coats and jumpers on.

From denim midi skirts to wide-leg cargo pants and classic duster coats to ballet pumps, this year’s spring fashion trends – which have been spotted at all the major fashion show catwalks across the world – have a real sense of minimalism, effortlessness and a throwback to Y2K fashion.

But don’t worry ladies, we’ve done all the hard work for you. We’ve rounded up the spring staples you need in your 2023 wardrobe.

DENIM MAXI SKIRTS

Denim has always been a classic on the catwalks but this season we’re seeing the denim midi skirt having a moment. This garment brings an effortless feel to your everyday outfit and the length creates a polished look. Just like jeans, they can be dressed up or down and paired with knee-high boots or chunky white trainers to add that extra edge.

Whether you want to make a statement by going for bold colour (Viva Mangenta is the hottest colour of 2023 ) or go for a versatile style that will go with any outfit, the options are endless.

THE DUSTER COAT

As spotted on the likes of Kendall Jenner and Zoë Kravitz, a duster coat is a key outerwear piece to own for 2023. These are ideal for this transitional period from winter to spring as they are warm enough when the sun goes down but still light enough to wear sat on a roof terrace in the sun. This staple piece can elevate any outfit, even if you’re wearing a hoodie and leggings.

Tweed is a fabric that’s set to dominate spring. Think Chanel-style jackets with bold gold buttons and fringe detail. This gives us all those Parisian vibes that are really having a moment right now. For work try pairing a tweed dress with a pair of black tights or for an off-duty outfit style a jacket with some wide-leg jeans and a basic tee, this fabric adds a sense of sophistication to any look.

While jacket shapes have been big and boxy for the past few years, designers like Loewe, Chloé, and Versace have introduced a refreshing new silhouette – cropped. But don’t worry cropped jackets don’t mean they are really short with many still cut to hip length. We’re loving crop trench coats that are flying off the shelves.
