Abigail’s Party – Darlington Hippodrome

Abigail’s Party provides a hilarious glimpse into a suburban living room in 1977 – the year of skin-tight polyester, the Queen’s Silver Jubilee and Saturday Night Fever.

Beverly and her husband, Laurence, play host to their neighbours Angela, Tony and Sue. As the alcohol flows and the nibbles are passed around, the guests clash over everything from politics to snack preferences.

A true national treasure, this black comedy is a ruthlessly funny examination of 1970s British life.
