The High Street Lounge

125 High Street, Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne NE3 1HA

Home in the heart of Gosforth High Street, this long-awaited new cocktail and tapas lounge has finally opened its doors. Beef sliders, chicken fajitas, beef tacos and haloumi fries are just a small selection of small plates that’s served here, and they’re all delectably dine-worthy, so you’ll really be spoilt for choice.

Oh, and if you love Italians, this spot is perfect, as it serves a range of classic pizzas and pastas that’ll satisfy all your cheese and carb cravings, too. But this just isn’t another neighbourhood eatery – you can expect a slice of the high life at The High Street Lounge, with live DJs providing city centre-esque entertainment as you tuck into the mega-tasty scran here, and perhaps sip on a cheeky cocktail or two while you’re at it.

Soho Tavern

Kibblesworth, Gateshead NE11 0YJ

This new gastro-pub serves Indian cuisine with a difference. Having opened in the former home of The Plough in Kibblesworth, this family business is set to spice things up by serving authentic Punjabi food with home-cooked flavours that have never been tasted before here in the North East.

With sizzling mixed grills, special spicy curries and chilli cheese chips on the menu, Soho Tavern gives us the ultimate dining experience by allowing us to watch the chefs at work in their open kitchen. You’ll also find a bar to pop in for a bevy, a beer garden to watch live sports, and a rooftop terrace perfect for those incoming summer months here, too.

Burger. Eat. Shake. Repeat!

42 Dean Street, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 1PG

You can’t go wrong with a good ol’ juicy burger. During lockdown, Burger. Eat. Shake. Repeat! (BESR) was born: a takeaway that promises to bring a unique twist on the classic American dish. After its roaring take-out success, the BESR team are making their move to open their first restaurant in Newcastle.

Selling everything from rainbow burgers to charcoal buns, BESR has an adventurous menu that serves up burgers like we’ve never seen them served up before (and are perfect for the ‘gram). You’ll even find a dessert burger here for those with a sweet tooth, made up of fruit, gelato and sweet sauce. Plus, throughout April, you’ll get 25% off the menu. See you there?
