For me, September feels like it’s been the fastest month of the year so far.

Sadly it’s a pretty light round-up since I’ve been shacked up with Covid for more than a week of this month, but there have still been fun times and an end-of-summer trip to Spain which was actually pretty transformational…

SPA DAY AT SEAHAM HALL

Rosie and I started the month strong by spending a day relaxing at Seaham Hall’s Serenity Spa.

We did the Rest and Relax Autumn Escape Spa Day which gives eight hours of access to the spa facilities, a 60-minute Signature Spa Treatment (30-mins full body massage and 30-mins facial) and a two-course lunch in the Ozone restaurant.

Sometimes it can feel a bit naughty to take a day out of the office but actually, having the space to relax and chat, we came up with loads of great ideas and plans for the future of HLN.

END OF SUMMER NIGHTS AT THE BEEHIVE

I’ve discovered a new love for my local recently which is The Beehive in Earsdon.

It’s the perfect pub for this time of year, especially for dog-owners. The outside areas are super cute and filled with lights, they also have a dog-friendly area in the main restaurant.

The food is exceptional pub grub – I’m a huge fan of the steak pie and mash. Check out the menu here and if you do want to go, especially on a Sunday, it’s best to make a reservation as it’s so popular.

BARCELONA, BABY

The highlight of my month, I headed to Barcelona for a week with my friend Danni and we had the best time.

We rented an apartment on the outskirts of the city and lived life like locals, working during the day and playing in the evenings.

Highlights included a day trip to Sitges to sunbathe and drink rose, negronis at El Nacional, bohemian beach bar vibes every night after work and discovering the best fast food restaurant on earth – 100 Montaditos. Think 100 tiny sandwiches to choose from and you’ll be transported to heaven.

RILEY’S FISH SHACK

My favourite way to spend an evening at this time of year – it’s SO cosy.

I prefer to book a table on the beach and hire a fire pit. The food is insane and it’s just such a lovely way to spend time looking at the sea as it gets dark.

Fish is the name of the game here but if you fancy something different, the bavette steak is insane.
