Northumberland Nook is not just a place; it’s an experience – a chance to embrace luxury glamping in Northumberland with your loved one while getting lost in the beauty of nature.

In the heart of Kirkheaton, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, Northumberland Nook offers a romantic rural retreat like no other. Explore nearby farmland, cycle along peaceful roads, and make lasting memories with the friendly resident alpacas.

Picture yourself relaxing and gazing out of the large picture window from your cosy bed, watching the stunning sunset over the Northumbrian countryside. And what’s more romantic than soaking in a rooftop wood-fired Hikki bathtub under the twinkly stars with a glass of wine?

INSIDE THE HYEM: YOUR COSY CORNER OF NORTHUMBERLAND

Hyem, meaning home in Northumbrian, is a two-storey cabin that’s the perfect romantic hideaway from the winter chill. With central heating that feels like a hyem away from home, it welcomes you with a warm and cosy atmosphere.

Inside, you’ll be greeted with a welcome hamper to kickstart your retreat, complete with essentials like a bottle of fizz, eggs, and coffee. Even your four-legged friend will be welcomed with some treats, ensuring everyone feels at home.

As you step into the lounge, rustic luxury and cosy soft furnishings await. Some of these furnishings are actually crafted using the fleece from the alpacas on Northumberland Nook’s farm, creating a unique and homely atmosphere. After a day of exploring, sink into plush and leather sofas while listening to the sounds of the crackling wood burner.

Hyem has a fully equipped kitchen, allowing you to whip up a romantic meal. The stylish breakfast bar is perfect for sipping on your morning coffee while watching the sunrise – a feeling that truly warms the heart.

As you venture upstairs, you’ll find the cosy bedroom complete with a large picture window that allows you to star gaze from the comfort of your own bed with a captivating view of the Northumbrian countryside that reaches the Cheviot Hills. You’ll also find the bathroom where the monsoon shower will ensure to wash all your worries away.

OUTSIDE THE HYEM: CONNECT WITH NATURE

As night falls, you’ll experience the darkest skies in the UK. Northumberland Nook offers skies that become a canvas of stars and planets, all visible without the need for a telescope. But there are binoculars and a telescope provided if you want to take a closer look. On clear nights, you might even catch a glimpse of the magical Northern Lights – a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

But a highlight for us is the roof and outdoor decking, equipped with wooden rocking chairs, hanging seats, and a wood-fired Hikki bathtub fit for two – the ultimate romantic and relaxation spot.

MEET THE FAMILY: TOM, HANNAH, STANLEY, BERTIE, RALPH, ALPACAS, AND HENS

Northumberland Nook is not just a business – it’s a family affair. Meet your hosts, Tom and Hannah, along with their three adventurous boys: Stanley, Bertie, and Ralph. Based on Hannah’s family farm, Tongues Farm, this family-run business is all about the love and connection with the countryside.

And how could we forget their friendly furry residents – the alpacas? Tino, Fred, Bowie, Lightning, Morse, Sherlock, and Cagney are not just entertaining; they also provide fleece spun into balls of wool, available for purchase.

Embrace your rural retreat experience by hiring a hen at Northumberland Nook. Enjoy the company of rare breed hens with your very own coop outside the Hyem, collect your eggs, and enjoy the freshest free-range eggs every moring of your stay.
