The boutique hotel in York that’s named ‘one of the best new hotels in the world’

  • Advertisement Feature

One of England’s oldest and prettiest cities, York, really does have it all.

Where medieval architecture, towering cathedrals and iconic cobbled streets meet contemporary shopping, bars and dining. There’s a real sense of vibrancy we all know and love at this cultural hot spot.

But one thing we’ve discovered is this new boutique spa hotel in York that’s a must-book this spring.

After recently being voted as one of the best new hotels in the world in Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards 2023(just to drop that in there), here’s everything you need to know about No.1 by GuestHouse, York…

HLN TOP TIP: No.1 York can collect your luggage from the train station letting you explore the beauty of York from the off. Follow this link to request your luggage pick-up.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION

This charming boutique hotel is right at the heart of the vibrant and medieval walled city of York. Nestled in the stylish Clifton area, No.1 by GuestHouse, York, is just a short walk from the city centre and is just a 10-minute walk from the impressive York Minster.

NO.1 YORK BY GUEST HOUSE

Set in a Grade II-listed Regency townhouse, you’ll be blown away by the stately proportions as you arrive at the boutique hotel. With huge, dreamy sash windows, higher-than-high ceilings, a sweeping central staircase and modern interiors, expect a grand welcome that will also make you feel right at home.

INSIDE THE HOTEL

The bedrooms

The 38 spacious boutique bedrooms, including three standout suites, are dotted around the building’s three floors. Each one has its quirks courtesy of the building’s heritage detailing and antique furniture bringing the best of old-school styling but with modern touches.

With four poster beds, sink-in memory foam mattresses and duck feather pillows, Beth our digital manager who stayed at No.1 by GuestHouse, York, said ‘it was the best night’s sleep she’d ever had.’

Plus, there’s an adorable little doll’s house which hides a kettle and coffee machine with complimentary tea and coffee to make sure you start your day off the right way.

The special unique touches

What we love about No.1 by GuestHouse, York, is the thoughtful touches that make your stay that extra bit more special.

There’s a Crosley Record player in every room along with a selection of records (think Spice Girls and David Bowie), so you can listen to your favourite tunes getting ready for a night out or a day of exploring. There’s also a bigger selection of records to browse in the vinyl library in the lobby.

No.1 by GuestHouse, York, makes sure everyone feels at home. Little ones can look forward to playing in mini tipis in the room, as well as bedtime books and free use of Instax cameras. Your four-legged friend is also welcome, too.

But a personal fave of ours is the complimentary pantry where you can help yourself to snacks, everything from pick and mix, savoury snacks, homemade sweet treats, soft drinks and fresh fruit – you name it.

EAT & DRINK
