This family-run Whitley Bay butchers has our comfort food cravings covered, dishing out the UK’s best steak and ale pie.

It’s officially pie season, and Nicholsons Butchers serves up the ultimate autumn comfort food, featuring the UK’s best steak and ale pie.

Earlier this year, this family-run butchers in Whitley Bay brought home gold at the national Smithfield Awards for their steak and ale pie impressively outshining over 200 other contenders.

Organised by Q Guild Butchers, these awards celebrate top-notch meat products from butchers across the UK.

Nicholsons Butchers has quite the legacy spanning four generations, all rooted in the same shop since its founding during the First World War by owner Kathryn Nicholson’s great-grandfather, Charles.

Their mission for over 100 years is simple – to provide the North East with the finest, freshest, and most sustainable meat, and their award-winning pie is a testament to the Nicholson family’s dedication.

Whether you’re craving a warm pie after a refreshing coastal walk or want pie delivered to your door (free of charge) while you hibernate from the cold, Nicholsons Butchers are ready to satisfy your comfort food cravings.
