And it does not disappoint.
Newcastle’s culinary scene becomes even more exciting this season as Leila Lily’s on historic Grey Street unveils its tantalizing new autumn a la carte menu.
This award-winning Rosette bar and restaurant offers a sense of luxury and the perfect escape from the dark, rainy, and cold weather outside.
As you step through the grand double-doored entrance, you’ll be transported to a world of wilderness. Greenery and garlands encircle stunning chandeliers above the bar, while tabletops feature beautiful flowers. Leila Lily’s provides the perfect backdrop to brighten up these grey autumnal days.
But Leila Lily’s isn’t t just about the food; it’s about the complete dining experience.
Their new autumn a la carte menu showcases a vibrant fusion of seasonal ingredients and culinary creations. Leila Lily’s talented chefs have carefully curated a menu that embraces all our favourite hearty and wholesome autumn flavours.
Autumn is officially the season of comfort food, with hearty pies, vegetable soups, and pumpkin-spiced lattes that warm the soul. From comforting classics to innovative creations, Leila Lily’s has something for everyone this autumn – so of course we had to try the new menu out for ourselves.
STARTING THINGS OFF
To kick off our dining experience, the starters on the menu were a treat in themselves, making it difficult for us to decide what to order. Laura had the pork and apple sausage roll, a delectable pastry filled with a mix of ground pork and sweet, tender apple pieces, inside a flaky, golden-brown pastry.
Cheese-loving Rosie went for the cauliflower and parmesan croquettes, a delightful blend of crispy and creamy that melts in your mouth with a savoury kick of Parmesan. Our eyes were also on steak and croutons, Moroccan lamb fritters, and stout and onion soup, but we’ll save these for our next visit.
FOR THE MAIN EVENT
When it comes to serving up autumn flavours, Leila Lily’s has truly outdone themselves. Laura ordered the delightful duo of lamb and goat cheese. The hearty flavours of the lamb paired with the creamy, tangy minted goat cheese create perfect culinary harmony.
Feeling all those seasonal vibes, Rosie decided to go for the bone marrow and beef pie, featuring tender, chunky shin of beef and luscious bone marrow inside a flaky, buttery pastry.
For seafood lovers, the halibut with fennel and grapefruit and brown ale-battered cod loin is a must-try. And Leila Lily’s hasn’t forgotten about you veggies – the harissa-spiced cauliflower is a rich and hearty option with herb-marinated halloumi, corn and chickpea salad alongside salsa verde and polenta.
TO FINISH
It would be rude not to end your autumn feast without treating yourself to a cocktail, or two, especially when it’s 2 for £15…
If you like Piña Coladas or are pretty fly for a Mai Tai, Leila Lily’s raises the bar when it comes to cocktails. They serve classic cocktails with a modern twist that offers a multi-sensory experience that’s more than just about the delicious taste.
We recommend the winter sangria, a mix of sauvignon blanc, Xamte pear brandy and William Fox cinnamon syrups to really get into the seasonal spirit. And why not upgrade to a pitcher to share with friends for just £22?
And if you love nothing more than an after-dinner espresso martini, go for the toasted caramel espresso; it’s the perfect dessert after your hearty meal.
FOR AN ADDITIONAL SWEET TREAT
There’s always some room for something to sweeten things up. From pear and apple crumble cakes to a trifle sundae – complete with strawberry, fig and gin jelly, apple sorbet and strawberry ice cream – and dark chocolate tart, make sure to not miss out on Leila Lily’s indulgent dessert menu.
