Flight Sim Centre

Brunswick Industrial Estate, Unit 5, Newcastle upon Tyne NE13 7GB

We’ve all had that dream of flying, but at Flight Sim Centre, we can actually make that dream a reality. Named Europe’s largest flight simulator, here you can ‘pilot’ everything from the Boeing 737s to Cherokees, Spitfires and helicopters. Embrace your inner Tom Cruise and go full Maverick in their Top Gun Fighter Jet experience or travel back in time and prove your heroics in their Battle of Britain simulation.

Take to the skies and experience the thrill of handling the controls in the clouds yourself. Talk about taking your weekend to new heights – this is definitely one to tick off the bucket list.

The Fifth Point Diving Centre

Blyth Riverside Business Park, John Anderson House, 4 Coniston Road, Blyth NE24 4RF

Diving can feel a bit out of your depth if you’ve never tried it before. But we know just the place that will make you feel at ease – The Fifth Point Diving Centre. After running a very successful dive centre in Malaysia, owners Nic and James returned to Northumberland and have been making waves after opening their new diving centre, bringing us an adventure that protects the ocean, too.

Whether you’re a rookie diver or a professional plunger, dive in and explore the North Sea like you never have before. From using the most modern equipment to only employing the most experienced professionals, you’re in safe hands here as you learn how to dive, give scuba diving a go, or even go on a ‘snorkel safari’.

HLN TOP TIP: Join The Fifth Point team on their regular beach and underwater clean-ups

South Shields Surf

Sandhaven Beach Promenade, South Shields NE33 3NG

Ok, so the weather may not be so hot as to tempt us to dip into the ice-cold North Sea just yet, but that doesn’t mean the water can’t still be our perfect adventure playground. It’s time to put your balance to the test by booking in some surf and stand-up paddleboard lessons this spring.

Designed for all abilities, put on that wet suit, hop on the board and explore the coast like you never have before – and we can guarantee you’ll have some laughs along the way. With South Shields Surf’s qualified and experienced instructors on hand to help and make you feel safe, you’ll be riding the waves in no time – bringing out your inner surf babe, while you’re at it.
