Did you know that, on average, women spend 53 days of their lives shaving?
Oh, it gets better. We’ll also fork out a cool £17,000 for the privilege.
While studies have shown that around 49% of us here in the UK hate the idea of hair removal, we’ll still hand over our hard-earned cash and spend our precious time shaving away our stubble.
And that’s before we’ve even considered the cost of waxing, epilating, tweezing, threading or burning, either. That’s a hell of a lot of time and money, isn’t it?
Imagine how much more satisfying it would be if you just didn’t have to.
And not because your feminism and personal hygiene routine have merged into one, grand political gesture, or because society had done what we all know is impossible and actually let up on the pressure it puts on women for a hot minute. But what if you simply found a haircare solution that would limit the need to shave, wax or epilate at all?
Something like laser hair removal.
WHAT IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL?
Ok, we know it sounds scary, but we promise you – it’s really not.
Banish those images of a James Bond-style villain standing beside a 20-foot laser beam ready to destroy the planet. Say hello to a friendly team of expert therapists ready to carefully eliminate your need to shave ever again.
Putting it as plainly as we can, laser therapy uses wavelengths of laser light to target our hair follicles. The light disables the follicle at its root, causing the hair it holds to fall out permanently.
Because we only ever show around 30% of our body’s hair at any given time, it usually takes several sessions of laser hair removal before all the hair in your chosen area has been removed.
Most women want to get hair removed from their legs, bikini, underarms, and face/neck, while back hair, torso, chest and buttocks are more common with the fellas. But, as long as it’s visible, any hair on the body can be removed by these lasers.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
We asked the LaserHQ team all your questions – so you don’t have to.

How long does laser hair removal last?
Our laser machines can remove hair permanently. The hairs treated with our laser will not grow back. However, any future hormonal changes may result in future growth of new hairs and more sessions would be required.
There are three stages of hair growth and, at any one time, only 30% of the hairs are visible on the skin’s surface; the rest are in a dormant state. This is why you will need multiple sessions to remove all your hair.

How does the treatment process work?
Wavelengths of laser light are selectively absorbed by melanin – the dark pigment which surrounds the hair follicle – and disables the follicle at the root, causing the hair to fall out permanently. Our laser machines use the optimal wavelength to deliver high energy, ensuring the best results.
How many sessions will I need?
We recommend that most people will need an average of 6–8 treatments every 4–8 weeks (area depending), to kill the hair follicles beneath the skin and prevent future growth. Some people will require more sessions if any future hormonal changes result in new growth.
With the high power and skin cooling ability of our lasers, most people only require 6–8 sessions, compared with other IPL equipment that require 8-12 sessions (or in some cases more). As a result, we’re able to offer our individual treatments at a lower price than our competitors and our customers will also save more due to the superior results of our machines.

What’s the difference between IPL and laser?
The key difference between the two treatments is that IPL uses a broad spectrum of high intensity light, which is emitted at multiple wavelengths. Laser hair removal emits a single, focussed and precise wavelength, which is optimised for maximum follicle absorption.
How long should I leave between treatments?
You can leave 4–8 weeks between sessions, depending on the area we’re treating and how many sessions you’ve had. Our therapists will create a personal treatment plan for you at your consultation, prior to any treatments.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Our lasers use an integrated ‘crystal freeze’ technology to keep the skin surface at a constant five degrees, thereby protecting the skin and ensuring a very comfortable treatment experience.
It’s normal to feel a warm prickling sensation throughout the procedure, which means the treatment is working. But you should not feel any intense pain. We ensure that all our clients feel comfortable throughout all our treatments.

Can I get Hollywood laser hair removal?
Absolutely! You can use laser hair removal to target any of the hair on your body and we can create a bespoke treatment plan to work for you. Whether it’s a bikini/Brazilian/Hollywood you’re after or you’re looking to target your legs, underarms, face, neck or back, we can make laser hair removal work for you.
Does laser hair removal work on darker skin?
Yes, our lasers work safely on all skin and hair types. They offer two work modes, high fluencies of energy and stacked pulse technology. We’ll always personalise settings in your treatment plan for the best possible results to suit your individual skin type and tone.
Does laser hair removal work on lighter or red hairs?
As with all laser technology, red, white and grey hairs will not respond to the laser treatment as they have no melanin.
We’re always completely honest with client expectations. Some of our lighter-haired clients do achieve results, but it can be a longer process.

Can you have laser hair removal when pregnant?
No, you cannot have laser hair removal when pregnant, as the treatment is hormone related. You’ll need to wait at least three months after your pregnancy to allow your hormones to regulate. You also can’t have the treatment whilst breastfeeding.
Can you go in the sun or on sunbeds after laser hair removal?
We can treat tanned skin as long as the tan isn’t ‘active’. So, we’d always recommend no sun exposure a minimum of three days before and three days after your treatments. We also would recommend wearing a high factor sun cream (SPF30+) during your laser treatment programme.
How much is laser hair removal?
Prices will vary, as your consultant will create a bespoke treatment plan just for you. However, you can find an idea of the prices at LaserHQ on our website to give you a rough idea. We even offer a ‘pick and mix’ price combo, if the areas you want to target are at various places on your body.
0% finance options are also available on all our treatment options.
Keep an eye out for their Black Friday deals, released in November – they’re not to be missed.
