FUSED GLASS WORKSHOP WITH KIMOCI GLASS

When: Saturday 14th January from 10:30am – 1:00pm

Where: Shipley Art Gallery, Gateshead

Price: £45

If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at fused glass, this workshop is your chance. Led by a friendly tutor from Kimoci Glass, you’ll be shown how to make a stunning glass bowl using Bullseye sheet glass, frits, powders and metal inclusions. Your bowl will be taken away to be fired and you’ll be able to collect it at a later date.

SATURDAY CRAFT CLUB

When: Every Saturday from 10:30am – 11:30am

Where: Morpeth Library, Northumberland

Price: Free

Want to get in touch with your creative side and let your imagination go wild? This Saturday Craft Club brought to us by Northumberland City Council will help you do just that. Become part of a group of like-minded people and learn new arts ad crafts skills from professionals. The best part? You get to take home your creations to showcase in your home.

CANDLE MAKING CLASS

When: Saturday 14th January from 12:00pm – 1:30pm or 3:00pm – 4:30pm (Multiple dates)

Where: New York Industrial Estate, Newcastle upon Tyne

Explore the art of candle making at this creative craft class in Newcastle and learn to make three beautiful candle products of your own. You’ll be guided by an expert tutor from HUGO+CO in a fun and relaxed environment where you’ll discover the importance of quality, eco-friendly ingredients and a range of fragrances, choosing your favourites to craft three of your own candle products. You’ll learn how to pour your candles by hand before taking them home to enjoy.

Fancy yourself a go at some wood crafting? Tap into decades of specialist knowledge and learn all about tool selection and care and maintenance with Woodsmith. Whether you want to have yourself a go at carving wooden bowls and spoons or always wanted to make your own riven cutting board, try something new with this creative workshop.

CERAMICS CLASSES: MAKE A TEAPOT

When: Saturday 14th January from 10:30am – 1:00pm

Where: Shipley Art Gallery, Gateshead

Price: £40

Create your very own functional teapot in this fun workshop giving you a chance to a pot perfectly suited to your individual style and personality. With the guidance of Muddy Fingers Pottery, you’ll learn how to assemble and decorate the different parts of your pot. It will then be taken to the Pottery to be fired and glazed in a glaze of your choice. After four weeks you’ll be able to collect your teapot and take it home to show off to your guests.

MANDALA DOODLE WORKSHOP

When: Saturday 14th January from 2:00pm – 4:00pm

Where: Oriental Museum, Durham

Price: £6.50

If you often find yourself doodling away when you are bored, we’ve found the perfect workshop for you. Inspired by this ancient Indian art form, in this Mandala Doodle session, artist and maker Sarah Dodds will guide you through the steps to create one of these unique designs. The session will start with some simple practice, learning how to make marks. And will learn how to create a grid on which to base the design, before creating the design itself.
