Travel back in time to experience life on the edge of the Roman Empire at Arbeia South Shields Roman Fort. Standing above the entrance to the River Tyne, Arbeia guarded the main sea route to Hadrian’s Wall and played an important part in the history of Roman Britain.
Watch stories being brought to life through a variety of events and displays including gladiator battles, falconry displays and Roman re-enactments. Plus, a visit to South Shields wouldn’t be complete without getting some award-winning fish and chips from Colemans on your way back to the Metro.
