Roll up, roll up, we bring you Flea Circus – where the past meets the present in a whirlwind of vintage charm and contemporary flair.

Nestled right at the heart of a golden triangle of brilliant independent businesses and creative spaces in and around Sandyford, Heaton and Ouseburn, as you step through Flea Circus’ doors you’ll be greeted by a kaleidoscope of colours, scents and treasures waiting to be discovered.

But what’s the story behind our city’s original independent department store that’s recently been crowned ‘Favourite Small Retailer’ in Newcastle’s People Choice Awards? Let’s take a closer look under the big top…

BEHIND FLEA CIRCUS

It all started with a passion for the thrill of the hunt. Owner, aka Ringmaster, Jim has always been drawn to the allure of antique shops and markets. Growing up surrounded by quirky pieces, his dream of creating a space where eclectic finds could shine bright was always on the cards. And Flea Circus was born – a haven for unique vintage interior pieces.

But what sets Flea Circus apart? It’s all about the vibe. With over 40 local independent makers under one roof, there’s an undeniable energy in every nook and cranny of the store. From the retro vibes of the furniture and lighting to the vibrant hues of handmade jewellery, there’s something for every taste and style.

And speaking of styles, every piece in Flea Circus tells its own unique story. Whether you’re into bohemian chic or sleek mid-century modern, the ever-changing stock ensures that no two visits are the same.

It’s a place where you can get lost for hours, rummaging through racks of vintage threads or flicking through shelves of vinyl records – all while soaking in the infectious energy of the passionate sellers, aka the Fleas…
