It’s October. We’re feeling the chill, the central heating has been turned on and you may even find yourself sitting in front of a fire. But just because the temperature has dropped, it doesn’t mean that your approach to fashion has to, too. In fact, Autumn fashion is often the most fun as you get to layer up pretty pieces, proving it to be the most practical season for clothes, too.
So, with this in mind, we’ve uncovered some of the ‘must-have’ Autumnal hits from none other than Mango. Despite originating from Spain, you can always count on them for the colder months, too…
1. Belt Suit Blazer - £79.99
Do you ever find yourself scrolling the ‘new in’ section of an online shop, only to edge your head backwards, double chin and all, in sheer excitement of stumbling across a really good staple? Well, that’s exactly how I felt about this blazer.
I can imagine this item being worn so many different ways – as it’s shown in the photo, making the most delicious date night look. For a more casual look, try removing the tie-belt detail, and throwing it over a printed tee and jeans, for a pristine but cool daytime look. It can even be layered under a coat for winter, with the soft grey showing underneath, oozing elegance without really trying. Basically, this blazer is an investment piece, and it’s just been added to my basket…
2. Pleated Suit Trousers - £49.99
…and to think I had hit peak excitement after seeing the blazer. Can you imagine how much my head jilted back after finding there’s a matching trouser set, too? Again, another staple. Not only could these trousers be worn as a two-piece with its counterpart, but it’d look just as collected with a knitted jumper. A muted beige would work well with some trainers, or a black rollneck and some loafers for something a bit more sophisticated.
3. Heel leather boot - £169.99
If you’re a fashion lover, you’ll no doubt believe that one of the best things about October is the arrival of boot season. And what better way to celebrate the new season that investing in a satisfying new pair of knee-high boots to saunter through the crunchy leaves in?
Also, this pair in particular are a pretty close copy to the Prada boots that have been seen all over the streets during fashion week. However, this Mango pair are much more of a steal, at £760 cheaper!
4. Knitted Oversized Shacket - £89.99
The fashion world no doubt favours a hybrid – from coatigan to snoods – but this season, it’s all about the humble shacket! In fact, it’s the latest must-have silhouette of the season, with a lot of them selling out quicker than gig tickets.
And fully expect the same thing to happen with this gorgeous ecru number. It’s slightly oversized and a thicker fabric than you’d expect, keeping you warm on crisp Autumn mornings, whilst also being flexible enough for layering options, such as pairing an overcoat on top. Plus, once Spring rolls back around, you’ll still be able to pair it over your trusty white t-shirt for an effortless look.
5. Puffed Sleeve Sweater - £35.99
By now, you’ll no doubt have some form of puff-sleeve top hanging in your wardrobe, after being seen on every runway, fashionista and Instagram feed for a fair few seasons. However, this powerful statement piece is here to stay, now coming in the form of a sweater. The good thing about this puffed-sleeved piece is that it will do all of the talking in any transitional outfit – meaning it’s your ‘nice’ top for even your plainest of jeans, skirts and trousers.
6. Maxi Bicolour Bag - £35.99
Well, here’s another item I’d already added to my basket before I’d even had a chance to blink. From luscious latte hues to cosy caramels, this season is all about the neutrals. Which can be a bit of a problem when your current bag collection which comes in all shapes and sizes, but only in black – which proves to be a harsh contrast to the neutral hues.
Therefore, this bicolour bag is the perfect compromise – the black keeping me firmly in my comfort zone, but the white sprinkling some calming tones to my outfit when faced towards the front. So, if you find yourself to be in this same fashion predicament, this bag may just be your beckoning, too.
7. Ruffled Cropped Cardigan - £35.99
Since sweater weather is finally here, it only feels natural to include a couple – including this cutesy cropped version, with its contrast collar and pearled buttons. Seeing as this already looks good with a simple low-bun, gold hoops and jeans, I’m sold by its simplicity.
8. Double chain necklace - £17.99
If you’re on a bit of a budget this season, consider spending your money on a gold chain to instantly uplift any autumnal pieces you already have in your wardrobe. On a busy morning, adding in this simple step will make any outfit look more put together without much effort required.
In fact, it’s really the easiness of a gold chain that is making such a simple product so popular this season, but fashionistas all over are pairing them up with the most basic of outfits for an automatically elevated look.
9. Buttoned Detail Knit Sweater - £35.99
Here we have another sweater weather edition, and this time it’s in a classic cable knit design. However, the rounded beck and button fastening makes it more fashionable than your standard jumper. As the model has, pair it on top of a poplin white shirt for extra warmth, or you could pair a blazer on top for something a bit more street style.
10. Belt Straight-Fit Trousers - £29.99
I don’t know about you, but I thought my love for loungewear was left behind in May as I waved goodbye to being housebound (and with that my extremely short-lived love for making banana bread and Couch to 5k). But it turns out, I couldn’t have been more wrong…
With the local lockdown in place, and perhaps an upcoming national lockdown (who knows anymore?), I find myself appreciating comfy casualwear all over again as I work from home for the foreseeable future. And with that, it only seems right that I purchase this pair of ‘comfy but appropriate enough to answer the door to the Postman in’ trousers.
11. Jersey Shirt Dress - £49.99
When you hear the words ‘knitted dress’, it’s likely that you think of the traditional cable-knit turtleneck that seems to appear on the high-street every single time the temperature drops below 10°C. However, I’m here to happily inform you that Mango has produced this glorious version of the knitted frock, that looks like it would well for both sunshine-filled days and cooler temperatures, too. When it’s a little warmer pair this with white trainers and a trench coat, or, when the temperature drops, Chelsea boots and your go-to coat for a cosier look.
12. Leather-effect elastic joggers - £35.99
To refrain from a full-on Ross from Friends moment, wave goodbye to skin-tight leather-look trousers, and instead, try something a little comfier like a jogger silhouette. I actually bought this exact pair last year and have found them to be as easy to wear as jeans. I’ve worn them with everything from a knit and trainers, to heeled boots and a blouse – making them one of the most cost-effective pieces when it comes to price-per-wear.
13. Chevron print jumper - £49.99
Who said jumpers had to be boring? Definitely, not Mango after designing this fabulous little number. Plus, with its oversized cosy silhouette and turtleneck, it’ll be your knight in shining armour when you’re feeling that little be chilly. Safe to say this is ticking enough boxes for it to ‘jump’ right into my basket.
14. Classic belted trench - £89.99
Each season, there is an influx of new ‘must-have’ items that make their way into our wardrobes. Whilst some silhouettes are ‘new’ – such as the sweater-vest or Peter Pan collared shirt, both of which are gaining cult status this season – there are some fail-safe wardrobe heroes that slip through the fashion net. And this Autumn, it appears to be the timeless trench coat.
After searching the high-street for a trench coat that looks high-quality, but with a lower-looking budget, this really may just be the one. Not only is water-repellent making it both practical and pretty, but the tortoiseshell buttons make it look eloquent than what the price tag would suggest.
15. Olive Green Platform Boots - £59.99
Speaking of water-repellent, fashion-forward rain boots are becoming a big hit this season. After making their way on the catwalks of both Prada and Bottega Veneta this season, they got rid of their stuck-in-the-mud association, and instead became acceptable to wear as a fashion-conscious person.
Extra big kudos to Mango for creating this pair in the most opulent olive green. Not only could they be your go-to shoe for walking your dog or a staycation trip, but they’re pretty enough to be worn casually on a weekend.
16. Fuchsia Fine-Knit Sweater - £35.99
If you’re after a knit to brighten up your day, then this fabulous fuchsia number may take your fancy. Not only is this piece feminine, but with its simplistic design it’s fashion-forward and likely to be adored every Autumn when you bring it back out of storage. Plus, as the model show, it even looks good on top of a blouse – making it a modern must-have layer for the season.
