Ellie is a textile designer and printmaker specialising in hand screen printed homewares and accessories. Following her Fine Art degree at Norwich University of the Arts, Ellie moved back to her home town in Northumberland and can now be found printing away in her studio space at The Old Bath House, Broomhill. The inspiration behind Ellie’s designs are often initiated by the act of collecting objects of natural form, discarded curiosities and vintage oddities. Since her childhood days, beachcombing and foraging have always been a prominent activity to fulfil her curious nature and have since become the basis of her observational studies and fine line sketches. Inspired by these findings from the Northumberland coastline and countryside, her designs start life as meticulous sketchbook drawings that are then developed into layered compositions and patterns for print. It is then through traditional screen-printing methods that these designs are brought to life on fabric in a series of natural colour palettes. From fabric to product, the screen printed homewares are then able to adorn interior spaces by bringing the outdoors into the home.

An artist living in Hexham, Northumberland. Art has always been a big influence in Charlotte’s life, having studied it at A-level and then combining Art and Teaching as a degree. For years she worked as a primary school teacher and sharing her love of painting and creativity with the children was one of the things she enjoyed most. Watercolour is her favourite medium and she likes to create landscapes, including local scenes as well as paintings that reflect the changing seasons. Birding is another major interest and she often paints the birds she sees from her garden as well as further afield. Charlotte’s work includes original paintings, giclee prints (digital prints) and greetings cards. This year her work has taken off in a new and sustained direction as she has undertaken more commissioned art. People have emotional connections to special places and in turn, Charlotte can create unique and bespoke landscape paintings for them to cherish.
