Find out what’s in the online shopping baskets of the North East’s most stylish interior bloggers…

Instagram has become an amazing resource when it comes to style. From fashion to beauty and interiors, seeing how real people style themselves and their spaces offers an endless source of inspiration that can be recreated and emulated. Unlike flicking through the pages of glossy magazines, rather than feeling unattainable, Instagram’s four by four squares allow us to get a sense of people’s true at-home aesthetics. Aspirational yet accessible, blogger’s interior images allow you to see how certain items look in-situ, and how they’re styled.

To help you revamp your rooms, we’ve asked eight of the chicest interior Instagrammers about the items they’re buying this month. Better yet, each of our stylish gurus are North East based. So whether you’re shopping for a living room or kitchen, looking for furniture or decorative items, or just in need of some inspiration, let these social-media-savvy bloggers guide you. It’s called influencing for a reason, after all.

I’ve just finished decorating and updating my main living space, and love both the lamp and chair featured in this image. Having spent so long inside this year I got a little bored and decided to update things. I wanted somewhere new to sit other than my sofa, and really wanted to create a quiet reading corner. I used to have an Ercol armchair here but it wasn’t too comfortable, I definitely picked it for the style over comfort! I decided to update it with an investment piece that I know I’ll have for years to come, and can happily nestle into with a book. It felt silly to have a piece of furniture I just never used. This year has taught me to make sure my space works for me.

I have been looking for an adjustable lamp for quite a while, as I wanted to zone off the lighting in the room. I love that this lamp from John Lewis has two arms that can be moved around independently, to direct light where I need it. The brass looks great against the off-white of the shades too.

Something I can’t wait to get my hands on is the new Townhouse Collection candle range from Jo Malone London. I’ve always had a thing for candles and for me Jo Malone London are the best, they burn perfectly. They’ve released a new scent called Glowing Embers which is ideal for the change in seasons. It’s so comforting; just like a roaring fire on its way out as the evening comes to a close. The white porcelain vessel is beautiful too, I like that it’s reusable. It would definitely find a spot on my bookshelves once it was empty.

I’ve always loved Anthropologie’s homeware but unfortunately we don’t have a store in Newcastle so if I’m visiting a new place and there’s an Anthro I always head straight there, and drag my husband alone (he loves it really). These cane chairs caught my eye online as I love anything with cane details—the fact they have pink seat pads is a mega win in my eyes. I feel like dining room chairs are an investment and I do like to splash out on pieces which be a statement and will last for a long time.

I spied this decanter on Oliver Bonas and it’s the item that I never knew I needed. I love bringing bits of tropical decor into my home as it reminds me of places I’ve travelled and happy memories. This decanter will go perfectly in my dining room—it’s practical and pretty and will make our weekend tipple that touch more exciting.

I just bought this gorgeous new lamp from Wayfair to sit on a side table in my living room.  It’s hand-painted and glazed in an antique pattern with a linen drum shade. With the dark closing in, we have the lights and fire on much more. We’re definitely spending more time in here, as it’s the cosiest room in the house.

Wayfair – Toland 75 cm Table Lamp £93.99

I have been searching for a while for a stylish container large enough to hold a full bag of washing powder. I started buying powder to reduce my single use plastic and haven’t looked back—a large box lasts me six months. Since the box doesn’t look as nice in the utility room, I bought this ash bucket from Garden Trading which stores it perfectly.

I’ve had my eye on this large round mirror to sit above my bedroom fireplace. I am after a gold or brass frame as I find it adds a real warmth to a room that you don’t always get from silver or black. I love this one from Melody Maison.

I’ve also been looking for a light for my dining room. We recently decorated the room with a navy and gold wallpaper from 4murs and I’m after a ceiling light to add a frantic effect. I think dining rooms should be darker and more seductive to help create a restaurant-esque feel. Since we use our dining room every day, it’s really important to get it right. I have my eye on this smoked glass pendant from the North East based Washington Lighting Centre. I try to buy from local businesses wherever possible and they have a huge selection.

I am a plant obsessed interiors addict, this is how I describe myself on my Instagram account. I love things new and old and am a serial charity shop trawler with a passion for vintage and retro items. I don’t really follow trends and try to buy on a needs only basis now, as over time we can accumulate so much unnecessary stuff. Having recently decluttered my nearly entire house, I have shocked myself at how much I have hoarded! At the moment, I want to replace my sofa for something more colourful and contemporary. I follow many interior brands on Instagram, so it’s been relatively easy to pin down my dream sofa. I particularly like this one from Habitat as I love the style, colour and the fact that the particular fabric is family friendly, as I have four children. There is an easy dimension guide to follow, so you can check it will fit perfectly in your space before you buy it—always essential. I did not do this with my current sofa and in my opinion it’s too big for the room! There’s currently 25% off at Habitat so my purchase will be made sooner rather than later!

A definite up and coming change I’m planning to make is with my bedroom furniture. I am a Brand Ambassador for Arista Living, and agreed to this mainly because their products are of such a high quality. Plus, they provide an easy solution to finding your ideal bed in 3 simple clicks. You can choose the look you want without breaking the bank, and importantly have some fun whilst you create your perfect bed. If you follow the link from my Instagram bio, and enter the code mrsh50 at the checkout, you’ll receive a whopping 50% discount. I’m going to be ordering mine after redecorating my bedroom—this has been last on my never ending list of interior jobs, but I can’t wait!

I have been longing for a new rug for some time, and first spotted this beauty a few weeks ago. It would look perfect in our 4four year old’s bedroom as there is currently only the wooden floor and we’re looking to make it a little cosier for her. The quality of this rug is great and for the price you can’t go wrong. This is certainly a piece which will go well in our home and add a splash of colour.

I always try and find products for the home that will last and I know I will continue to love in years to come. We love our plant display on our kitchen window sill and I think these concrete planters would fit perfectly. The price means they’re not going to blow the budget, but they still look amazing and bring a hint of texture into the space. I know that concrete is a huge trend so adding little aspects around the home is ideal.

With the cold nights drawing in I’m spending time snuggled up with my two Westies, Bear and Charlie. I’m a big believer in buying quality, classic products which will last a lifetime, and love natural materials. I’ve been on the hunt for an affordable but luxurious throw and spotted this cashmere version on the John Lewis website. It would work draped over the sofa arm or the end of the bed.

I’ve been on the hunt for an oversized statement mirror for the living room but most are just too small to give the dramatic effect I’m after. Our house is 140 years old and part of its character lies with its flaws, so when I spotted this antiqued mirror on the Maisons du Monde website I just knew it was perfect for the space.
