Lily & Rabbit

This family-run business makes award-winning soaps from their cottage in Knaresborough. When living in Tuscany for several years they loved the olive oil soap bars that were so easily available and beautifully cleansed their family’s sensitive skin. Once they moved to North Yorkshire they were inspired to make their own luscious soaps by combining olive oil with raw goats milk (the best of both worlds). They’ve since won awards with their all-natural soaps in 2020 at the Free From Skincare Awards and The Green Parent Natural Beauty Awards. Lily & Rabbit’s regular range of goat’s milk soap bars are made with their base formula that are pure and unscented, or naturally coloured and scented with fine essential oils. Their spa bars offer a little more for sensitive or troubled skin.

Ruby Friday

Founded by Eleanor Hughes, this North East boutique online store focuses on accessories to make its customers smile. From jewellery and bags to scarves, sunglasses and hair accessories. This year she has also stocked up on a range of fashionable face masks – always a useful gift! Team HLN are a big fan of Ruby Friday’s blanket scarves which are a great dupe for the large Acne scarves at a fraction of the price.

Daint Jewellery

When founder Kim White from Morpeth came back from a two-year trip to Australia, she knew she wanted to immerse herself in something creative. She took a silversmithing course and from then, Daint Jewellery was born. She handcrafts dainty and minimalist jewellery that can survive the wear and tear of everyday life. Every sale is handmade to order and Kim makes a conscious effort to make Daint a sustainable brand, using recyclable products where possible.

Bath House

Bath House was set up 22 years ago by two families, The Brooks and the Marshalls who all met at art college and went into partnership together to form Bath House. They have been building up their brand of fragrance, body care, and skincare ever since and make all of their own products in their making rooms in Cumbria. As artists and designers, they are passionate about creating, designing, making and packaging all of their own products.

Foxology Clothing

Founded by Dawn Foxall in 2017, Foxology Clothing offers beautiful knitted products that cause as little environmental impact as possible.

All British made and British designed, they’ve been working on a gorgeous new colour palette for its womenswear collection, available across a range of items.

Sonosynthesis is a small female-run business based in Newcastle.

They’re passionate about creating beautiful handcrafted fibre art pieces from locally sourced, and eco-friendly materials to add a piece of boho to your home, as well as encouraging the love of fibre art and crafting by running local workshops and supplying DIY home kits for all your crafty needs.

Oxygen London

Fashion brand Oxygen London was created by North East Girl, Georgia in 2015. After graduating from University she felt the desire to design her own collection in womenswear taking inspiration from the catwalks, adding her own style & influence to each piece. Due to fast fashion, Oxygen London decided to stop designing their own collections and focus on bringing new styles little & often keeping up to date with all current trends. They believe in bringing extra luxury and elegance to the brand. For this reason, they only select premium & contemporary outfits so that all of our customers get the best quality they deserve. Oxygen London has just launched its AW20 collection with one of HLN’s favourite influencers, Alex Simpson.

Moonies Boutique

Moonies Baby Boutique was taken over the Stephanie and Dan just under a year ago, while Stephanie was on maternity leave. Steph likes to find products for babies that are different from those you can find on the high street, so you can treat your child to something that you won’t find anywhere else. When she is looking for new products to include, Steph looks only for the highest quality products, so you can be sure they’ll make it through wear and tear, and all the products are carefully hand-wrapped before being sent to customers. The care and attention to detail that Steph puts into each item is reflected in the number of returning customers, and the community that has been created on her social media. You can find a range of products including clothing, swaddles, footwear and now also teething accessories. Steph is always happy to help if you have a query and takes pride in making sure you find what you’re looking for.

LannyxStudio is run by Allana, a designer and maker based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. She designs and hand makes fashion, accessories & homeware using sustainable principles like up-cycling, repurposing and UK-sourced fabrics. Allana really believes in sustainability and ensures that all her products are crafted from carefully sourced materials and gives fabrics a new lease of life. You’ll find one-off and limited edition pieces that make the most unique gifts – and if you get in early you can even request custom products. All of your orders come in eco-packaging that is recyclable and compostable, with an option to add a personalised note to any order and can be sent directly to your chosen address. If you’re local (NE1-NE30) she can also hand-deliver your items free of charge.

John is a professional photographer based in the North East, entering his 21st year in the industry -a family man, real ale drinker and a long-suffering Newcastle United supporter. The passion and focus of his personal collection has been capturing the beauty of the North East, at first for exhibitions, and for friends and family, but now he has made them available commercially for us to enjoy in our own homes. All prints are produced on a high-end large-format digital printer (Epson Surecolour P7000), using Hahnemuhle Photo Rag 308gsm paper and premium quality Epson Pro inks. The vast array of colours and sharpness of detail ensure that the print you’ll receive is of the highest quality, so much so, you can almost imagine being there. John is also offering a framing option for you, so a print that catches your eye can be supplied framed – he will help you choose the right frame to really highlight the photograph.

Ellie is a textile designer and printmaker specialising in hand screen printed homewares and accessories. Following her Fine Art degree at Norwich University of the Arts, Ellie moved back to her home town in Northumberland and can now be found printing away in her studio space at The Old Bath House, Broomhill. The inspiration behind Ellie’s designs are often initiated by the act of collecting objects of natural form, discarded curiosities and vintage oddities. Since her childhood days, beachcombing and foraging have always been a prominent activity to fulfil her curious nature and have since become the basis of her observational studies and fine line sketches. Inspired by these findings from the Northumberland coastline and countryside, her designs start life as meticulous sketchbook drawings that are then developed into layered compositions and patterns for print. It is then through traditional screen-printing methods that these designs are brought to life on fabric in a series of natural colour palettes. From fabric to product, the screen printed homewares are then able to adorn interior spaces by bringing the outdoors into the home.

Katie’s Design House was founded by surface print designer & illustrator Katie Burns. Inspired very much by the natural world, Katie uses hand-painted artworks to create surface print designs for textiles and paper products. Katie also shares her love for painting and drawing in workshops with the aim to show others the joy and relaxation that comes from putting paintbrush to paper. This Christmas, Katie is offering Stationery Kits which contain all of the materials for you to create handpainted stationery, with video tutorials to accompany. Some of Katie’s prints can also be personalised to add that extra special touch.

Sweet Fantastic is a North East design company which is passionate about producing regionally inspired prints and homeware.

Nicola’s passion for nature’s healing abilities and the importance of self-care routines stems from her own health problems. For over a decade she has embraced natural wellbeing practices, helping to reverse chronic illnesses. Following a volunteering trip to Cambodia working at a school in a remote village, she returned with a new perspective and priorities. It was a turning point in her life and her passion developed into a calling to create Nature + Nature – with the aim of bringing the therapeutic powers of nature to as many people as possible whilst promoting the importance of self-care. In collaboration with their charity partner unitedworldschools.orgevery Nature + Nature purchase made will fund 1 day of education to underprivileged children, helping them to create a better future.

All of her products have been developed to help you find calm and restore balance to your mind, body and soul. The bath salt blends are handcrafted in our North East lab, using the highest quality 100% natural and organic ingredients.  And we’re committed to doing this in a sustainable way, in harmony with nature, through the use of 100% recycled or recyclable materials.
