The Big New Year’s In

BBC One has a night of celebration’s planed as we wave goodbye to 2020. Paddy McGuinness of Top Gear and Take Me Out Fame along with a whole host of stars wave goodbye to an extraordinary year. We are promised games, music a few surprises and a 2020 quiz – expect lots of fun.

BBC One – New Year’s Eve – 9.00pm

The Graham Norton Show

Graham chats to Hollywood stars Tom Hanks, Emily Blunt, Jamie Doran and Jessica Chastain who will be promoting their new movies along with plenty of banter, music and hopefully an appearance from the big red chair.

BBC One – New Year’s Eve – 10.25pm

Alicia Keys Rocks New Year’s Eve

The night ends with a performance from the one and only Alicia Keys who will bring in the New Year with a special concert from Los Angeles followed by the chimes of Big Ben at midnight. Of course, there will be no fireworks, but here’s hoping that in 2021 some normality will return.

BBC One – New Year’s Eve – 11.30pm

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 4

Netflix seems to have a bad habit of cancelling some of their most popular shows and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is the latest. We join Sabrina, Salem and her weird family for the final eight chilling adventures. To be honest, we’ll be sad to see this one go. The horror-tinged reboot of Sabrina the Teenage Witch is based on the Archie Comics revamp of the character and not Sabrina the Teenage Witch TV show from the 90s. It stars Kiernan Shipka, Miranda Otto and Lucy Davis.

Netflix – out 31 December

Death to 2020

From the mind of Black Mirror’s Charlie Brooker, comes a comedy special which pays tribute to the year 2020 – probably a year most of us would like to forget. It mixes archive footage and new narration from the likes of Samuel L Jackson and Hugh Grant among others

Netflix – out now

Yearly Departed

Amazon Prime also gets in on the act with its own tribute to the year 2020. An all-star female cast bid us a not so fond farewell to 2020. The show is presented as a wake for the year itself with a funeral parlour setting. Expect gags galore from the likes of Tiffany Haddish and Sarah Silverman among others

Amazon Prime –  30th December

Hello 2021

New Year's Day

Doctor Who: Revolution of the Daleks

Dr Who has a long tradition when it comes to it’s Christmas specials and this New Year’s Day special is no exception. The Doctor, played by the amazing Jodie Whittaker, is trapped in a space prison, imprisoned there by extraterrestrial police force The Judoon. Back on earth, the Doctor’s companions Ryan (Tosin Cole, Graham (Bradley Walsh) and Yaz (Mandip Gill) must unite against arch-enemies The Daleks who have once again returned to threaten mankind. As well as the return of The Daleks, fan favourite Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) also returns.

BBC One – New Year’s Day – 6.45pm

Dancing on Thin Ice With Torvill & Dean

Before the next series of Dancing on Ice kicks off, we follow Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean in Alaska in an attempt to fulfil a life long dream as they skate in the great outdoors and also see the effects that global warming is having on this icy landscape.

ITV – New Year’s Day – 9.00pm

The Serpent

Another new addictive true-crime thriller, following mass murderer and con man Charles Sobhraj (Tahar Rahim) who killed at least 12 people on the Hippie Trail through Asia in the 70s.

BBC One – New Year’s Day – 9.00pm
