Look Good

We recreated 4 fashion looks from Anna Delvey in Inventing Anna – here’s how to steal the style on a budget

Inventing Anna - released on Netflix in February - has given us serious outfit inspo. Here's how to recreate the looks (on a lower budget than Anna's head-to-toe designer wear).

If you haven’t had a chance to watch Inventing Anna on Netflix yet – go now.

Based on a true story, the show follows a journalist who investigates the case of Anna Delvey, the Instagram-legendary German heiress who stole the hearts of New York’s social scene – whilst stealing their money.

Whatever your thoughts on Anna, one thing is for certain – she had an incredible wardrobe. The costume budget for the show was reportedly millions of dollars – not surprising given Anna’s taste for all things luxury and designer.

We’ve taken four of Anna’s looks from the show and recreated the outfits. Because who doesn’t want to steal the style of a European heiress some days?

CHECKING OUT REAL ESTATE

In this scene, Anna Delvey is meeting a team of investment bankers, real estate brokers, architects and restauranteurs to walk through her dream location for the Anna Delvey Foundation – a building with a rental of $48million dollars a year.

ASOS - Houndstooth Shacket - £65.00

The Outnet - Red Patent Leather Shoulder Bag - £175.00 (was £350.00)

Black - Long Black Leather Gloves - £135.15 (was 159.00)

ASOS Design - Black Tea Dress - £22.00

Boux Avenue - Black Tights - £8.00

Jigsaw - Heeled Ankle Boot - £100.00 (was £200.00)

FRONT ROW CHIC

Our favourite of the looks. It was really difficult to get a good high res image of this outfit, and it’s only featured for 30 seconds in the show, but it’s our favourite by far and something we’re going to replicate ourselves this year. In this scene, Anna is spotted at the front row of a fashion show and the voiceover, her stylist friend Val, is saying how she was effortlessly chic and always stylish. We can’t say we always agree with that statement but in this scene, she nails it.

River Island - Navy Blazer - £75.00

Revolve - Marea Dress - £206.00

Reiss - One Shoulder Mini Dress - £198.00

Free People - One Shoulder Dress - £89.95 (was £228.00)

Laconic - Mismatched Gold Stud Earrings - from £350.00

Charlotte Tilbury - Lipstick in Stoned Rose - £25.00

PRIVATE JET STYLE

In this scene, Anna is flying to Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Conference on a (stolen) private jet. If you’re wondering how you can steal a private jet, you’re going to have to watch the show. But anyway, she’s opted for a distinctly girly style in this scene with a tweed Maje dress and oversized sunglasses.

Maje - Renise Dress - £197.40 (was £329.00)

Karen Millen - Petite Tweed Dress - £140.00 (was £175.00)

Silk Fred - Velvet Shift Dress - £26.60 (was £38.00)

ASOS - AJ Morgan Sunglasses - £10.00 (was £18.00)

MORROCAN VIBES

The episode where it all starts to fall apart for Anna Delvey. She heads to Morroco with some friends, knowing that she has no money in the bank and all of her credit cards get declined. Cue drama. But she’s still standing in a $1,500 Etro silk gown and Celine sunglasses, so we can’t say we feel too sorry for her. We’ve found some dupes for this outfit which we’d argue are actually better than the original, and a fraction of the price.

TK Maxx - Brown Leopard Silk Robe - £69.99

House of Zana - Daydreamer Chiffon Kimono - £70.00

Renne - 18 Carat Gold Plated Baby Lana - £235.00

Office - Malla Easy Mules - £39.00
