Grate

Grate is our go-to cheese shop. Owner Moz knows all there is to know about cheese, and stocks all kinds of cheese from across the UK and further afield.

Whether you’re looking to pick up a good old block of cheddar, or try something a little different, Grate is the place to go.

As cheese is not to be missed at Christmas, Moz also has hampers and selections of all sorts of cheese, from a camembert baking kit to a Best of British selection. You can get these online now, or pop into the shop for the full cheesy experience.

She’s also offering gift wrap on her selections, for an additional £5.

Meraki Cacao

Meraki means doing something with soul, creativity, and love.

Founder of Meraki Cacao, Vicky, creates a healthy alternative to chocolate, full of organic, nutritious, and unrefined ingredients. Each bar is a premium quality and indulgent healthy treat. They are made from raw cacao, which preserves the dense nutrients found in unroasted cacao nibs and raw cacao butter.

Being ethical and sustainable is at the heart of Meraki Cacao. As well as being made with organic and sustainable ingredients, each bar is wrapped in recyclable foil, with the labels printed on recycled paper, using vegetable-based inks.

Seven flavours are currently available, including the award-winning Coast bar, flavoured with raspberry, rosehip, sea buckthorn and sea salt. Coast secured Bronze in the Chocolate, Confectionary and Desserts Category in this year’s Nourish Awards, a nationally recognised health food award.

All inspired by travel experiences Vicky has had or would like to have, every bar has their own story available to read on the Meraki Cacao website. She hopes that by eating them and reading the stories behind them, they will transport you around the world and evoke memories of your own experiences.

Keep your eyes peeled for a new hibiscus-based flavour with spices that is being developed for Christmas based on a Trinidadian drink called Sorrel!

The Travelling Bee Company

The national award-winning Travelling Bee Company offers unique and completely natural honey which is all 100% raw, unprocessed and most importantly – looks and tastes magnificent. Thanks to their loved and cared-for bees, they extract only the honey they can spare – a natural, ethical beekeeping practice that involves hand spinning the honey out of its comb.

Filtering and pouring their honey into jars, they ensure the natural beauty and taste that their jars of honey are renowned for. The Travelling Bee Co was awarded 3 Stars at The Great Taste Awards for their Scottish heather honey section and 2 stars at The Great Taste Awards for their Scottish Heather honey.

Not only can you buy their amazing honey and products, they also supply Bee colonies for those looking to get into bee keeping.

Chat to the chaps at Jesmond Food Market, or find them at Brockbushes and Beamish Christmas Markets.
